Can you brew your own beer underage in Australia and not get charged for it?
If I was to, lets say get my hands on some homebrew ingredients and some yeast and homebrew my own beer technically I am not purchasing beer from a licensed premises is it still breaking the law if I consume it at home?
You will need to specify which state you are in. Laws vary from state to state. Here in the N.T., it is not against the law to home brew even if underage, as long is it is at home and not for supply to others.
Here in the NT, it is not against the law for under 18's to consume liquor at home, and neither is it against the law to consume alcohol at a licensed restaurant with a substantial meal, in company of a parent or legal guardian.
But, as I said, laws vary from state to state. Where you live could be a serious offence.
While I can't authoritatively answer your question, being as I am from the US and not Australia, you may want to check the law more specifically. For example, in the US, it is not only illegal to purchase or sell alcohol to a minor, but it is illegal to consume alcohol if you are under 21. There are some exceptions in some states (if you are with a parent, on your own property.)
Like I said, the issue is technicality. And the only way to make sure is to look it up. Use Google, do a search on your local area and check the local laws.
